A court in Hong Kong has turned down an appeal by protesters to suspend the clearing of barricades from areas occupied by pro-democracy demonstrations.
Students and citizens have been staging sit-ins on 3 main roads in the city since late September. They are demanding democratic elections for the territory's chief executive.
The Hong Kong High Court issued an injunction on October 20th to clear the roadblocks in a case filed by taxi and bus operators.
