A group of Japanese people is to visit North Korea to pay respects to their relatives who died there in the closing days of World War Two.

Nine people are to leave Japan on Wednesday. They will visit graveyards in the suburbs of Pyongyang and the eastern city of Hamhung during their stay until July 5th.

The 2 countries agreed last month to take measures to handle the remains of around 20,000 Japanese who died about 7 decades ago in what is now North Korea. The bereaved families will be making the first visit under this agreement.
