More than 2,700 entertainment venues had been raided as of Thursday in a crackdown on the illegal sex and drug trade in Harbin in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang Province, Xinhua news agency reported.

Local police captured an escaped convict, detained 27 people and punished another 28 at the 2,700 locations being investigated in the crackdown.

Police also checked 1,600 vehicles and confiscated 18 regulated knives and 360 boxes of illegal fireworks, the report said.
