Yokohama Chinatown is located in Yamashita-cho, Naka Ward, Yokohama City, Japan. The town has about 150 years of history and is the largest Chinatown in Japan. Yokohama Chinatown began at the same time as the port was opened to foreign trade in 1859. Many Chinese immigrants arrived in Japan and formed a settlement in Yokohama. The area was known as "Nanking Town."
