Hozenji Yokocho(the Hozenji Alley)lining out side of the temple is paved with stones .
There are old-style Japanese restaurants and bars on both sides of the alley.
Stores on the alley were destroyed by air attacks during WW Ⅱ.
However, they were restored again and still retain the calm, old atmosphere of Naniwa (the old name for Osaka).
Oda Sakunosuke wrote in his famous novel "Meoto Zenzai" that there's an old restaurant serving Osaka's popular desert, zenzai(sweet red bean with rice cake), on the alley.
