Myoko is a Kongo class guided missile destroyer in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). She was commissioned on 14 March 1996 after being laid down by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, on 8 April 1993. The Kongo Class is the 4th generation Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG). This AEGIS ship has a different appearance from previous Japanse DDG designs. The SPY-1D AEGIS radars equipped on the four faces of the bridge prove her capacity . Japan was the first state (outside the United States) to acquire the superlative Aegis fleet defence system, fitted in the Kongo-class destroyers.
Zuishinin is a Buddhism temple of Shingon sect located in Onogoryo-cho ,Yamashina-ku,Kyoto-shi, Japan. The temple was founded in 991 by Ningai and is famous to be connected to Ono no Komachi. Ono no Komachi was a famous Japanese waka poet in early Heian period. She was noted as a rare beauty and so is a symbol of a beautiful woman in Japan. This temple is also famous for its plum garden and it is open to the pubic at this time of year. On March 30, the annual spring event "Hanezu Odori" was held at this temple Twenty-one children appear dressed in kimono with obi, "Amigasa" woven hats, and plum blossom branches. They perform a lovely dance along with a traditional children's song singing.
Hozenji Yokocho(the Hozenji Alley)lining out side of the temple is paved with stones . There are old-style Japanese restaurants and bars on both sides of the alley. Stores on the alley were destroyed by air attacks during WW Ⅱ. However, they were restored again and still retain the calm, old atmosphere of Naniwa (the old name for Osaka). Oda Sakunosuke wrote in his famous novel "Meoto Zenzai" that there's an old restaurant serving Osaka's popular desert, zenzai(sweet red bean with rice cake), on the alley.
Isonokami-jingu is a Shinto shrine located in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The Nihonshoki says the shrine dates back to the 7th century, when the Mononobe clan had military control over the area. The Mononobe clan was a powerful clan of the Kofun period and patronized the shrine for generations. It is said the shrine also served as an armory. This sacred shrine is dedicated to Futsunomitama no Okami.
It holds a number of national treasures and important cultural assets such as the seven-pronged sword, Nanasaya no Tachi. The ancient artifacts and treasures excavated in the shrine grounds in 1874 are enshrined in its main hall, built in 1913.
Niutsuhime-jinja is a Shinto shrine located in Katsuragi Town, Ito County, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. This shrine has kept close relations with Koyasan from ancient times, as a protector of it. The shrine enshrines Niuhime-no-Okami, Koya-no-Okami,Ogetsuhime-no-Okami and Ichikihime-no-Okami. It is the head shrine of the shrines which enshrine Niutsuhime-no-mikoto all over the country. The age of foundation is unknown.
Hozenji is a Jodo Buddhism temple located in Chuo District, Osaka City, Ｊａｐａｎ. It was built in 1637.. The main hall was demolished during the World War II. Only Konpira Fudo and Mizukake Fudo remained. Fudo is the destroyer of delusion and the protector of Buddhism. He is portrayed holding a sword in his right hand and a coiled rope in his left hand. Mizukake Fudo covered in moss and visitors come to this temple pray for fortunes as they pour some water over the statue to keep the moss growing..

Tenryu-ji is the head temple of the Tenryu sect of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, The temple is located in Susukinobaba-cho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, Japan. It was founded by Ashikaga Takauji on the site of the Kameyama for the purpose of consoling the spirit of the Emperor Go-Daigo. Muso Soeki ,the great Zen master, became its first chief priest. The temple is ranked number one among Kyoto's Five Mountains( Kyoto's Five Zen Temples). In 1994, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto".
The Itsukushima Jinja is a 1400 year Shinto holy place constructed over the water. . The shrine was built in the Shinden architectural style popular during the Heian Period. The famous Otorii facing the shrine is located further out to sea. It serves as a gate to the seaward entrance to the shrine. However, when the tide is low, the gate is surrounded by mud and can be easily accessed by foot from the island. The Torii gate has existed since 1168. Due to the corrosive effects of saltwater, the Torii has been reconstructed 17 times since then The current gate dates back to 1875. The gate is about 16 meters high and was built in a four-legged style.
More than 100 people attack police station in western China after a man who was in custody for advocating Tibetan independence went missing, state media reports Sunday. 95 people, most reportedly monks, detained by police. Xinhua said six people had been arrested and 89 more had surrendered to police. All but two of the 95 people held were monks from the La'gyab Monastery.
Awashima Jinja is a Shinto Shrine located in Kada ,Wakayama City, Wakayam Prefecture, Japan. The Awashima Jinja is said to date back to the 3rd century when .the legendary empress Jingu came from a military expedition to Korea, Her ship encountered a storm and was nearly sunk in Setonaikai. During the storm, she had prayed to the Kami to save her ship. The Kami granted her wish. Following an oracle of the Kami, she threw a rush mat called a toma into the sea and her ship followed the current that the mat was floating down. At last, the snip arrived safely to an island called Tomogashima. She found there a shrine dedicated to Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto and Ohonamuji-no-Mikoto. She donated the treasures she was carrying on board her ship from Korea to the shrine. Several years later , Emperor Nintoku who is Empress Jingu's grandchild heard the fact when he comes for hunting to Tomogashima. He thought that the shrine would probably be inconvenient on the island and so he moved the shrine to Kada on the opposite shore. According to the document of the shrine,this is the origin of Awashima Jinja.
Yamato was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. She was the largest and heaviest battleship ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load. She armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 inch) main guns. Yamato served as the flagship of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto throughout 1942. Yamato sunk in April 1945 during Operation Ten-Go. Ten-Go was the last major Japanese naval operation of the war.
Soryu class is a new style submarine which is the first AIP (Air-Independent Propulsion) submarine in the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force. AIP allows a submarine to operate without the need to surface or use a snorkel to access atmospheric oxygen. It is said that Soryu is an evolved form of the Oyashio class submarine. The Oyashio is a class of Japanese diesel-electric submarine operated by the JMSDF. The submarines are larger than the earlier Harushio class submarines. Soryu`s submerged displacement,4.200t, is the world's largest class as a conventionally-powered submarine. The Soryu is equipped with the AC generator and the un-penetrating type periscope. Speed of Soryu is 13 knots surfaced and 20 knots submerged .
The Keihan Nakanoshima Line is a railway line operated by the Keihan Electric Railway in Osaka City, Japan. It opened on October 19, 2008. The line runs 3.0 km between Tenmabsshi Station and Nakanoshima Station. It has 5 stations including Tenmabsshi Station.
At the beginning of the Kamakura Period, Taira- no-Munehira reestablished Mibu-dera Temple at its present location. But, the Jizo were destroyed by fire in 1257. The famous priest Engaku-juman Shonin collected funds to rebuild Mibu-dera Temple. He sponsored the yuzu-dainenbutsu-e ceremonial gatherings at Mibu-dera Temple. At this meeting, worshipers would chant the name of the Amida Buddha in a loud voice. It is said that Mibu-dera Kyogen evolved from Engaku's yuzu-dainenbutsu-e ceremonial gatherings.
Mibu-dera is a Buddhist temple of the Ritsu Sect of Buddhism in Mibu,Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto-shi,Japan. It is officially called Hodosanmai-ji. The temple was established in 911 by the monk Kaiken of Onjo-ji temple for his mother. The enshrined statue of the Bodhisattva Jizo was carved by Jocho, the best sculptor of Buddhist images during the Heian Period. The statue was lost when fire struck the temple in 1962 burning down its Main Hal. The present Jizo statue came from Toshodaiji Temple.
The Gojo-Ohashi Bridge is a bridge over the Kamo River between Shimogyo -Ku and Higashiyama –Ku, connecting to Gojo-dori Street. This Bridge was originally at Matsubara-dori Street in late Heian era. It is said that the famous battle between Musashibo Benkei and Ushiwaka-maru took place on the old bridge located where Matsubara-bashi Bridge is now. Toyotomi Hideyoshi moved the bridge to the current location in 1589.
Two Japanese destroyers set sail to join an anti-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia from Kure Base in Hiroshima Prefecture on Saturday afternoon.. The two ships are expected to reach the Gulf of Aden in about three weeks.
Amakashi-no-oka is a hill 148m ,situated at the center of the Asuka area. It lies several hundreds m from east to west and approx. one km from south to north. From the top of the hill is a panoramic view of Yamato-Sanzan or the three main mountains of the area, Mt. Miminashi, Mt. Unebi and Mt. Amanokaguyama.
It was the Empress Kogyoku’s palace and the stage for the Isshi Incident (Taika Reforms), where Soga-no-Iruka was assassinated by Nakatomi no Kamatari and Prince Naka no Oe in 645 (the 4th year of Empress Kogyoku's reign). The roof of the palace was shingled with wooden boards (itabuki). The buildings were lost to fire in 655. Continuously being excavated, the remains of stone pavements(Ishiziki) and a large well (Oido)have been founded at the supposed site of Asuka Itabuki-no-miya in the Oka district of Asuka-mura.

In 741,Emperor Shomu issued an imperial edict that the people should become directly involved with the establishment of new Buddha temples throughout Japan The temples are called Kokubun-ji(for monks) or Kokubuni-ji(for nuns). Emperor Shomu was the 45th Emperor of Japan. Shomu is best remembered for commissioning the statue of the Vairocana Buddha in Todai-ji of Nara. When Emperor Shomu declared his edict to construct the great statue of Vairochana Buddha in October 743 in his capital Shigaraki no miya,he chose Shigaraki as the temple of all the state temples location. But Shigaraki no miya suffered fire several times and so he moved the capital to Heijo-kyo in 710.
